The flange broke while I was setting the toilet and I almost quit for the night
I was finishing up a small half bath redo in my house in Akron last month, and everything had gone smooth until the very end. I went to set the toilet back down and heard a crack, and the old PVC flange had split right in half. It was 9pm on a Sunday and I had already returned the rental truck, so I couldn't just run out for parts. I cut out the broken chunk, dropped in a repair ring with a $12 kit from the hardware store, and let the silicone cure overnight. Next morning the toilet went down solid with zero wobble, and I pressure tested it for a full hour with no drips. Has anyone else dealt with a cracked flange on an older floor, and did you patch it or rip the whole thing out?
