A comment on a 2018 thread called the housing dip in Boise before it happened
Found a post from 2018 where some guy said Boise prices would double by 2025. Everyone mocked him. I laughed too. Then I looked at my rent last month. Up 140 bucks from two years ago. He wasn't even a realtor, just a transplant who did the math. Anyone else dig up old predictions and feel dumb for ignoring them?

It's not that the guy was a genius, it's more that people forget Boise's supply problem was ALREADY obvious back then. I went back and read that thread too, and the thing people missed is he wasn't predicting some bubble, he was pointing out that the city just didn't have room to build fast enough for everyone moving in. The mocking comments all said "nobody wants to live in Idaho" which was already wrong by 2018, the transplants were ALREADY there. And the other thing, everyone talks about prices doubling but rent did the same thing, it's just slower to notice because it creeps up every year instead of hitting you with a big number. The real dumb move was thinking local jokes could beat basic math about supply and demand.
