Grandpa said the internet would never catch on for buying cars, now he sends me Carvana links
My grandpa ran a used lot in Dayton for 30 years and told me back in 2009 that nobody would ever buy a car without kicking the tires first. Last Sunday he texted me a Carvana listing for a 2017 Camry and asked if the 7-day return was legit. Anyone else have a relative who flipped on something like this?
People act like this is some big turning point but it mostly just means your grandpa got old and lazy like the rest of us. My uncle swore he'd never use a phone to pay for anything, now he Venmos me five bucks for coffee every time we meet up. Thing is, the guy still won't buy a mattress without laying on it, and he drove two hours to test drive a truck last year. Buying a Camry online isn't the same as buying a car, it's buying an appliance. Nobody needs to kick the tires on a 2017 Camry, that's the whole point. He didn't change his mind about cars, he just got tired and the listings were right there on his phone.
