Guy at the tire shop in Akron told me to rotate my own tires and I laughed at him
Back in 2021 I was getting new tires put on and the guy doing the work, mid 50s, hands like leather, told me I should just rotate them myself every 5,000 miles and save the trip. I brushed it off because who does that. Fast forward 3 years and 40,000 miles and my fronts were toast way before they should have been. The shop wanted $180 to replace them and the warranty was void because I never rotated. Same guy was still working there and just shook his head when I came back. I asked him why he bothers giving that advice when nobody listens and he said maybe 2 out of 10 people come back later and admit it. So my question is has anyone here actually taken advice from a random worker and had it pay off later?
Oh man, that guy deserves some kind of award for patience because 3 years of watching people ignore the same advice has to be brutal. The best part is the warranty being void over something that takes like 20 minutes with a jack and a tire iron, thats a rough way to learn a $180 lesson lol. Honestly tire rotation is one of those things that sounds like a scam until your fronts look like racing slicks and your backs still have tread from 2021. The 2 out of 10 who actually come back and admit it are probably the same people who read the manual before using a new appliance. Shoutout to that leather handed guy though, hes out here planting seeds and maybe one actually grows.
