Hot take: the 3am Reddit comment about a soda brand's new sweetener beat the actual news by 11 days
I keep a folder of screenshots from r/AskReddit threads that hit big later, and the wildest one is from a guy in Tulsa who posted at 3:47am about a new sweetener getting swapped into his favorite soda. He said it tasted "like someone poured a candle into my Dr Pepper" and got downvoted to minus 40 in like an hour. I saved it just because the wording cracked me up. Eleven days later the brand put out a press release confirming the formula change, and that thread got dug up and hit the front page. The difference between that random comment and the big food blogs was huge, because he was just a guy drinking soda at his kitchen table with no reason to make anything up. The blogs all had the same press release wording, but he had the actual can in his hand and the receipt date. Anyway, has anyone else kept a weird screenshot folder like this, and did yours ever turn out to be right?
