I figured the "guy on the street" clip in that viral subway video was staged, until my buddy pulled up the 2014 upload
For two years I wrote off that whole viral subway singing clip as a setup. I even argued about it at a cookout in Cleveland, told my buddy Marcus it was a planted ad and the "random" crowd was paid. Last month he sent me a link to a 2014 upload from some tiny account with about 400 views, same guy, same song, filmed on a flip phone in a near empty station. The upload date was stamped right there in the comments, years before any brand touched him. Turns out a local news crew in Columbus ran a short piece about him back then too, and nobody shared it. I sat there feeling pretty dumb about my whole cookout speech. Now I dig through old uploads and archive tabs before I call anything fake. Has anyone else had a clip they swore was staged turn out to have a boring old upload sitting there the whole time?
