Pro tip: the closed sign at the Toledo diner had a tiny typo that regulars caught 8 months early
I eat breakfast at a diner near downtown Toledo about three times a week, and back in March of 2019 the owner's son started writing the specials board in marker instead of printing them. One day the sign said "watch 4 gril clozed sunday" and I asked him what was up with the spelling. He just laughed and said they were trying a new thing where the cook posted whatever he felt like. I started snapping pics of the board every week and by November the typos spelled out a countdown, crummy spelling and all. The diner closed for 3 weeks that December, and when it came back the menu had doubled and the place was packed. Anyone else ever catch a coded message in something small like a sign or a menu before the real news hit?
Sounds more like the cook just can't spell and the kid was messing with you. A countdown implies someone planned the typos on purpose but most diners I know can barely keep the coffee fresh let alone run a secret code.
