Remember that local weatherman who called the 2017 hurricane path a week early?
Back in September 2017, this guy on a small Tampa station, Mark something, kept saying Irma was going to hit the west coast harder than anyone predicted. Everyone laughed at him because the big models had it going east. He was dead on, and the station got roasted for not putting him on air sooner. My question is, how do you spot the one person who actually knows their stuff when the crowd is all betting against them?

Correct the date. The hurricane was in 2017 but Irma hit in September.

Man, does it really matter that much though? The hurricane was still in 2017, so the year is correct. Getting the exact month right feels a little nitpicky for casual conversation. People know what you meant about the storm hitting that season. I think sometimes we focus too much on small details when the main point is already clear. Just a thought.
