That old forum post from 2012 about Bitcoin hitting $1000 was dead on
Back in 2012 I was lurking on some obscure tech forum. Saw this guy arguing Bitcoin would hit $1000 within 5 years. I laughed so hard. Called him a clown in my head. Forgot about it completely. Last month I was cleaning out my bookmarks and found that thread. Went back to check. Every single prediction he made about adoption and mining difficulty was right. He even called the Silk Road bust affecting prices. Took me 2 hours to scroll through the whole 40 page thread. I felt like an idiot for not paying attention. Anyone else ever go back and find old predictions that were way more accurate than you thought?

My dad had a file box full of old investment newsletters from the 90s. Found one from 1996 where some guy predicted Amazon would be worth more than Walmart by 2015. Everyone wrote him off as crazy. But the logic was simple - people would rather buy stuff from their couch than drive to a store. We just couldn't see it back then because we were stuck in how things were. That's the pattern I notice everywhere now. The wild predictions that sound stupid usually come from people who understand how the world is actually changing, not how it feels right now. We get so caught up in the daily noise that we miss the big obvious shifts happening right in front of us.

Wait, was it actually 1996 though? I thought Amazon didn't even go public til 1997, so that prediction would've been really early.
