TIL the guy who predicted the housing crash in 2006 was just a random forum post
Found it digging through an old finance board from '06, some user named 'flipster99' posted about how his town in Nevada had 40% of homes for sale as short sales and nobody was buying. He said the whole thing felt like a Ponzi scheme and got laughed at for months. He was dead on, obviously, and I never saw his name come up in any of the retrospectives. Anyone else ever stumble on a prediction that was way more accurate than the so-called experts?

Man, my big predictions back then were mostly about which pizza place would survive the weekend, so this guy's basically a prophet compared to me.
