Appreciation post: the guy at the tire shop in Reno who told me why my TPMS light kept coming on every cold morning
My tire pressure light kept popping on at 6am for about two weeks straight, so I finally stopped at a shop off Virginia Street in Reno to get it looked at. The guy there said the light wasn't a sensor problem at all, cold nights drop the pressure about 1 PSI for every 10 degrees, so my tires were sitting right on the edge of the warning threshold. He topped them at 2 PSI over spec and told me the dealership likely would have charged me $120 to "reprogram" something that never needed reprogramming. Never saw the light again after that, and now I wonder how many people pay for sensor work when it's just basic physics.
