I went to the old steel mill site they're turning into condos

I mean, the headline is all 'historic preservation', but walking around you see they're keeping one wall and a smokestack as a 'feature'. The rest is just a normal concrete box. Has anyone else seen a redevelopment project where the 'story' they sell is totally different from the reality on the ground?

Historic preservation" is a real stretch when it's just a wall and a stack. That's not saving history, that's using it as a decoration.

Even a small piece can hold the whole story of a place.

They kept one wall and called it historic? That's just sad... like putting a single brick on a shelf and saying you saved the whole building. Morganmartinez has a point about small pieces holding a story, but this feels like they're just selling a lie. It's not a story anymore, it's a cheap decoration for a concrete box. Makes you wonder why they even bother.
