Just realized my news takes were way too surface level until someone called me out
I used to just read headlines and skim articles then post hot takes in comments. Last month a guy replied to one of my posts about that big merger and just said "did you even read the FTC filing?" and linked it. I was like nah I just read the Bloomberg headline. So I actually read the whole 80 page thing and wow. The real story was buried way down about how they were trying to dodge some tax loophole. Now I try to at least check the source document before I post. Anyone else had someone call them out and it actually made you a better reader?

Tbh that filing was only 47 pages not 80 but your point still stands.

My buddy once filed something 30 pages too long and the judge just threw it in the trash.

And the wild thing is once you start looking at the actual filings, you realize how many people are just yelling about stuff they read in a 300 word summary. It's like everyone's arguing about a movie based on the trailer.
