Rant: The 3-hour news analysis podcast beat my 40-minute headline scroll

I used to skim five news apps during lunch and feel informed, but last Sunday I sat through a deep-dive episode on the water crisis in Flint and got more context than 3 months of headlines. The host actually interviewed a local official and read the old meeting minutes, which is stuff the quick updates never mention. Has anyone else dumped their news apps for long-form audio after one good episode?

Did you ever feel like you were getting the story, but actually just getting the same five facts repeated? I used to think long-form was a waste of time, but after one episode on Flint, I totally get it now.

Same five facts repeated" is basically my whole brain on any topic, so I feel personally called out by that. But yeah, @the_brian, that Flint episode wrecked me, I thought I knew the story and then realized I knew about as much as a headline. Long-form's like a cold shower, uncomfortable but you actually wake up.
