That $40 'survival seed bank' I bought was just a bunch of lettuce seeds
I saw an ad last winter for a 10,000 seed collection that promised tomatoes, peppers, and other good stuff. $40 later, I got a box of tiny packets that were all labeled 'mixed lettuce blend' when I actually read the fine print. Every single packet was lettuce, maybe three different types if I'm being generous. I tried planting them anyway, and now I have more salad greens than my whole block could eat in a year. Anyone else fall for one of these prepper scam kits or just me?

My buddy Mark fell for almost the exact same thing last year. He was so pumped about his "survival seed vault" until he opened it and found nothing but a ton of radish seeds and one tiny packet of something labeled "herb mix" that was basically just dried parsley. He tried to grow the radishes out of spite and ended up with this massive patch that bolted in like two weeks because he planted them way too late in the season. The whole thing turned into a joke between us because every time we'd hang out he'd hand me another bag of weird, woody radishes. He still brings it up whenever someone mentions prepping or buying anything online without reading the reviews first.

Is it really fair to blame the whole idea of seed vaults just because one friend got a bad deal? Radishes are actually one of the most reliable things you can grow for a quick harvest, so even that part isn't a total loss if you plant them right. Sounds more like the lesson here is to check who you're buying from, not that the whole concept is a scam.

Bought a "prepper pantry" kit once and it was mostly just expired granola bars.
