That roofing estimate in Phoenix came with a 40 page contract, I almost signed it

Last month a hail storm hit my neighborhood and every door hanger in a 5 mile radius suddenly knew my roof needed replacing. The first guy who came out wrote up a quote on his tablet, then handed me a thick stack of paperwork where the real numbers were buried on page 34. I caught a $2,500 charge for county permits that only cost $180 when I checked directly with the city office. I ended up calling three more companies and asking every single one for a one page summary before I let anyone near my shingles. Has anyone else gotten a quote where the sales guy spends more time on the financing sheet than on the actual inspection?
