Found a 1987 concert bootleg where a 'legend' flubs every third lyric

Went down a YouTube rabbit hole last night after someone in a vinyl group posted a link to an old tape transfer. It's supposedly a soundboard recording from a small club in Cleveland, and the guy is someone everyone calls a genius songwriter. But man, he forgets the words to his own biggest hit twice, then jokes about it for a minute, then starts the wrong verse. The crowd is polite but you can hear people whispering. My take with a grain of salt: maybe the studio versions were heavily edited and the live rep was mostly charisma. Has anyone else heard a rough bootleg that totally changed how you saw a big name?
