My buddy's 10 minute rant about Bob Dylan finally made sense to me

We were painting a trim job in Portland last spring and he just went off on how Dylan's voice sounds like a dying cat and everyone pretends it's genius. He played me 'Lay Lady Lay' on his phone and I actually laughed out loud, 47 years of hype and I never questioned it. Anyone else have a friend who cracked a dead icon's code for you?

That voice is pure art, raw and unpolished on purpose, and half the folks who trash him just can't handle lyrics that actually mean something... every raspy note carries fifty years of truth in it.
