My kid's teacher told us to read the same picture book 40 nights in a row and I almost lost it

By night 12 I was ready to toss "Goodnight Moon" in the trash, but my 4 year old started saying the words before I turned the page, and that stopped me cold. Turns out the repetition is the whole point with little kids, but now I'm wondering if we do the same thing with dead legends, just nodding along to the same 5 songs because that's what everyone says to do. What's one beloved dead artist you actually gave a real listen to before deciding they were great?
