Overheard a guy in Nashville say Merle Haggard is 'the most overhyped dead legend' and I can't decide if that's crazy or honest
Half of me thinks he's insane because Hag wrote and played everything himself for 50 years, but the other half remembers the 8 months I forced myself to listen to his whole catalog and realized I skip half the tracks, so I honestly want to know if anyone under 40 actually reaches for him on purpose or if we just say his name because our dads did.

Wait, eight months of forcing yourself through the whole catalog? That is some serious dedication for something you ended up skipping half of. I grew up on Hag because my dad played him nonstop in the truck, but I honestly could not tell you the last time I put him on by choice, maybe "Mama Tried" at a bar at 1am. The guy in Nashville might be onto something, or maybe we just burned him out by treating every dead country singer like a saint.
