Started a fight in my book club over Kurt Cobain's legacy last night

I brought up that Nirvana's Nevermind is way too polished and overproduced compared to their early stuff, and my friend Lisa nearly threw her wine at me. She went on a rant about how Cobain was a genius and I was just being contrarian. But honestly, how many people actually listen to Bleach or Incesticide instead of just the hits? Has anyone else here had a dead celebrity debate get way too heated with people who think you're attacking their childhood?

So when you brought up the production on Nevermind, did Lisa actually talk about the music or was it more about defending the whole grunge era and what it meant to her?

Tried that exact argument with my cousin about Hole vs Nirvana once. What finally helped was asking her to pick one song from Bleach and actually walk me through what she loved about it, which calmed things down and turned it into more of a conversation. Sometimes people just need a chance to show their love for something instead of feeling like they have to defend it.
