That Bob Marley worship has got to stop

I found out Bob Marley's net worth when he died was only like $11 million, way less than you'd think for a global icon. Turns out his label and manager took almost everything, and he died broke in a Miami hospital in 1981. Why do we act like he was some saint when the guy left his wife and had like 11 kids with different women?

Hell yeah, that's the truth! A buddy of mine used to defend this one rapper's every move until his girlfriend left him for the same kind of behavior the rapper was famous for, then he finally got it.

Man just separate the art from the person, enjoy the music but dont make him out to be a role model. Way too many people put celebrities on pedestals without checking their real life track record.

That's the real issue right there, the pedestal thing. People act like making good music automatically makes someone a good person, but that's never been true. Look at all the artists who have done terrible things but still have people defending them just because they wrote a catchy song a decade ago. The whole "separate art from artist" thing works up to a point, but when you start ignoring what they actually did, you're basically telling them it's okay.
