Heard a customer say 'I'll just watch a video' when I quoted a headset overhaul
Made me remember when you needed the Park Tool HS-1 and a lot of feel. Has anyone else noticed service calls shifting from repairs to just confirming DIY guesses?

It's wild how many people come in after watching a few videos and getting stuck. I've learned to just show them the worn part they missed, like a pitted cone, and explain why it needs the real fix. That usually changes their mind about the DIY route. A lot of times they just need to see the problem with their own eyes to understand the work involved.

That "see the problem with their own eyes" part is so true. I once spent an hour trying to explain a timing belt's job to a friend, but he only got it when I showed him the bent valves from his own engine. Your method, @abby_morgan18, cuts right to the chase.

Got me wondering, @abby_morgan18, how often do people actually get mad when you point out the worn part they missed? Like, do they double down on their video research, or does seeing the real damage just shut down the argument every time? I figure some folks have too much pride to admit they were wrong even with proof right in front of them.
