I finally listened to that old timer about using a heat gun on seized seatposts

Honestly, I thought the guy at the co-op was just being stubborn when he told me to stop soaking them in penetrating oil for a week. He said, 'Kid, just heat the tube, not the post, for about 30 seconds with a good heat gun.' I tried it last week on a 2014 Trek that had been sitting in a garage. Ngl, it worked on the first try after I'd already wasted a whole can of PB Blaster. Has anyone else found a better trick for aluminum posts in steel frames?

Dry ice on the post works too.

Yeah, that's a solid trick.

Buddy of mine tried that hack once. He bought a block of dry ice and dropped it in a bucket of water thinking it would clear his post fast. Wound up with this crazy fog machine effect in his backyard and the neighbors thought his house was on fire.

Hah, I'd probably just end up freezing my own fingers off.
