I was looking up old Shimano tech docs and the original Dura-Ace 7400 group weighed way more than I thought
I found a scanned 1985 spec sheet online that listed the complete 12-speed group at 2,850 grams. For some reason I always pictured those old parts as super light. It's wild how much things have changed, even with steel frames and all. Has anyone else come across a spec from back in the day that really surprised them?

Remember seeing a vintage Campy ad claiming "featherweight." Thing was a boat anchor. @the_elizabeth is right about the marketing.

Nah, that stuff was legit light for its time compared to the steel options people actually rode.
