Just realized I can skip the cable crimp and solder the end on braided housing, but is it worth the extra 10 minutes?
Had a customer's rear derailleur housing fray apart twice in one month on a commuter bike in Seattle, so I tried soldering the cut end with a torch and some rosin core, and it held through rain and 400 miles, but I'm wondering if I'm just adding a weak point that'll crack later or if this is actually the move for wet climate bikes.
