Pro tip: forget cable ties, try this for internal routing
I spent two hours fighting with a shift cable inside a carbon frame last week, using magnets and zip ties like everyone says. Finally grabbed a old spoke, bent a tiny hook on the end, and pulled the cable through in under ten minutes. Anyone else find that the common advice here just doesn't work for certain frame shapes?

Magnets have always worked fine for me tbh. The trick is using a really strong one on the outside of the frame and a smaller one taped to the cable end inside. Never had a tangle issue.

I used to swear by the magnet method, honestly thought it was the only way to go... But after fighting with a tangled mess inside my last frame for way too long, I gave the spoke trick a shot. Changed my whole outlook on internal routing. It's so much easier to control the cable end and guide it around tight bends without everything getting stuck. Now I feel kinda silly for all those hours wasted on magnets and string... the spoke hook thing is just simpler and faster, no contest.
