The grease vs. anti-seize debate on pedal threads is getting old

I keep seeing bikes come in with seized pedals because someone used anti-seize instead of grease. A guy brought in a Trek Emonda last week, and we had to use a 24-inch breaker bar to get the left pedal off. Grease has the right viscosity to handle the constant torque, while anti-seize can dry out. Am I the only one who thinks this is a basic thing we should all agree on?

But is a breaker bar really needed for just anti-seize?

I used to think the same thing until I snapped a cheap ratchet doing exactly that. A breaker bar is cheap insurance.

Funny how this stuff pops up everywhere. You see it with people using WD-40 as a lube on door hinges, then wondering why they squeak again in a week. It's that same shortcut thinking, using what's handy instead of what's right for the job.
