Watched a guy ruin a brand new Shimano groupset at a shop in Portland last weekend

He was using a power tool on the derailleur bolts and stripped two of them before anyone stopped him. Has anyone else seen shops letting new guys loose on customer builds without supervision?

You know, I used to think being hands off was the way to go. Let them learn, right? But seeing a stripped derailleur bolt on a brand new groupset changes your mind real quick. That's just a few hundred bucks down the drain because nobody took two minutes to watch what the guy was doing. Now I'm more of a "stand there and talk through it" kind of person, because that tool was screaming danger before it even touched the bolt.

Stripping a derailleur bolt isn't exactly hundreds down the drain, that's more like a ten dollar part unless the whole derailleur got wrecked. Still, I get the point about watching closely. A torque wrench and some basic hand holding would have saved that headache before it started.
