Binged The Americans after loving Homeland and it's not even close

I spent 6 nights on The Americans after finishing Homeland last month and I can't believe how much better the pacing and character work is. The family drama actually means something instead of just filler between action scenes. Has anyone else found a spy show that ruined the others for them?

My buddy Dave watched The Americans after getting through all of Homeland in a week. He called me at like 2am after the season 3 finale and just kept saying "the garage scene" over and over. I still get texts from him months later about how real the Jennings family feels compared to Carrie's whole "I see patterns in yarn" thing. He said the grocery store arguments hit harder than any CIA shootout. Pretty sure he's ruined spy shows for himself for good.
