Had to pick between finishing The Wire or calling in sick to work

Last Tuesday I was one episode away from the end of season 3 and my alarm went off at 6am, so I called in sick and finished the whole thing by noon, but now I'm behind on my patient notes and I'm wondering if anyone else has ever blown off real life just to close out a show cleanly?
