Hot take: Comedies getting too serious is wrecking my binge weekends
I've noticed sitcoms now feel the need to add heavy drama to every season. It's like they're afraid to just be funny for a whole episode. That new show about the friend group spent half the season on a breakup arc. I mean, when I sit down to binge, I want to relax, not get stressed. Maybe it's just me, but constant sad moments kill the mood for watching multiple episodes. Even older comedies had balance, but now it's all tears and lessons. It makes it hard to enjoy back-to-back without feeling drained.

Totally! It's like the show needs to earn its laughs. "Scrubs" nailed this. One minute you're laughing at JD's daydreams, the next you're hit with a patient dying. That balance makes the comedy feel real, not just empty jokes. The sad parts make you care, so the funny stuff matters more.
