Skipping the first 10 minutes of a movie is criminal.

Hang on, I gotta push back a little here. It's not always criminal, sometimes the first 10 minutes are just boring filler like a long car chase or a slow pan across a city. I've definitely skipped ahead after five minutes of nothing happening and still got the whole story just fine. That said, I get why people say it's important, because sometimes that opening scene sets up the whole tone or drops a key bit of info you'll need later. But calling it criminal feels a bit over the top, you know?
