Rewatching The Wire after 3 years hits different now

Back in 2021 I watched The Wire for the first time during a two week stretch of night shifts. Last month I decided to rewatch it with my roommate who had never seen it. What got me is how much slower I notice the small stuff now, like the way they show the city changing between seasons. The first time I was just trying to keep up with who was who. This time around I caught details like how McNulty's drinking gets worse right before the docks case ends. Anyone else find that shows feel totally different on a second binge after a few years pass?

Damn, that's a real thing. So when you caught McNulty's drinking slipping, did it change how you saw him as a character, or just make you more annoyed at him the second time around? I feel like rewatching after a few years makes you judge people way harder, like you stop rooting for the "cool" ones.
