Watched the first season of 'The Old Guard' and then 'Extraction' back to back, and the difference in fight scene editing was like night and day.

The clear, wide shots in 'Extraction' let you follow every brutal move, while the shaky, close-up cuts in 'The Old Guard' just made me feel dizzy and confused about who was hitting who.

honestly i gotta push back on this a little. i get that the directors said it was on purpose to show theyre tired but watching it just felt sloppy not intentional. like you can have messy fighting without making the camera spasm around so much you cant tell whats happening. extraction proved you can have raw brutal fights AND let the audience actually see them. i dont buy that ancient warriors would fight in a way that makes it impossible for their own eyes to track a punch you know? that shaky editing took me right out of the movie every time.

The Old Guard's fight scenes were actually done by the same stunt team as John Wick. They just went for a totally different, messier style on purpose.

Totally, that's a great point. It's a smart way to show their age and fatigue through the action itself.

Yeah, and that messy style fits the story better. These are ancient warriors, not trained assassins. They're tired and just want the fight over fast, so it looks clunky and desperate on purpose.
