Caught a weird editing mistake in our local news weather segment

Last Tuesday I was watching the evening news here in Cleveland and the weather lady pointed at a map showing 75 degrees, but the little temperature graphic in the corner said 42. My husband laughed and rewound it to double check. I emailed the station about it and they actually wrote back saying the intern mixed up the feeds. Has anyone else spotted a silly error like that on their local news?

Oh yeah, that "intern mixed up the feeds" line sounds all too familiar (I've gotten that exact excuse before after catching a typo in a sports score graphic). If you want to avoid the runaround next time, take a screenshot or a phone video right when you spot the error because they'll take you more seriously with proof in hand. Also, try tagging the station's social media account instead of emailing, since public posts tend to get a quicker fix than a private complaint. I just wish they'd take a minute to double check their graphics before airing things, but I guess that's why the interns get the fun job of juggling all those feeds at once.

Haven't you ever made a small mistake at work though? The intern thing gets thrown around a lot sure, but sometimes it's just a genuine mixup that happens when you're juggling a dozen things at once. I'd rather they admit it was an intern error than try to pretend it was something more complicated.

Nailed it, I caught a grocery store sign that said "freash" once and got the same intern excuse.
