Just realized the trick to spotting a fake viral glitch clip is checking the shadows frame by frame
That ceiling fan clip from a garage in Phoenix that everyone swore was a glitch had shadow movement going the wrong way in 3 frames, so I slowed it to 0.25 speed and the edit cut was plain as day.

Shadow direction is way too easy to fake now though. I've messed around with After Effects and you can just flip a light source or mirror the whole plate in like two clicks, and once it's compressed to 480p on Twitter nobody is catching that. The tells I trust more are the frame rate changes around the cut and the way the camera shake suddenly stops dead, because real handheld footage never freezes clean. There's also the audio, since a lot of these fakes have room tone that cuts clean with the video when a real phone mic would keep rolling through the whole clip. So yeah the shadow check works sometimes, but I wouldn't treat it like a magic trick that catches everything.
