That viral video of the news anchor tripping over the same cord 3 times? Turned out it was a hoax.
Friend of mine who works at that station in Ohio told me they staged the whole thing for views. Anyone else feel kinda cheated when you find out a blooper was faked?

Wait, hold on, nobody's talking about the crew? Like, the camera guy and the sound guy and everyone else had to stand there and pretend they didn't see the anchor intentionally trip three times. That's a whole lot of people keeping a secret for a dumb viral clip. I'd feel so awkward being the one holding the boom mic while the anchor does a pratfall on purpose. Feels like it undermines trust within the actual newsroom too, not just with the audience.

Call me cynical but I don't see why it matters that much. It's a blooper video, not a news report. People get worked up over the dumbest stuff these days. Yeah it's annoying they faked it, but it's not like anyone got hurt or lied about something important. Just scroll past it and move on.

Does the station have some kind of social media policy that officially allows stuff like that? @morganmartinez makes a good point about the crew having to play along, and I wonder if the news director signed off on it or if the anchor just went rogue. Because if the whole newsroom is cool with faking bloopers for clicks, it makes you question what else they might be willing to fake for ratings. That kind of thing can really mess with the credibility of a local news station, especially in a small market.
