The teleprompter fail at my local news station changed my whole workflow
I was doing a segment at KTVZ in Bend last Tuesday and the anchor's script froze mid-sentence, so she just stared at the camera for a solid 8 seconds before someone yelled cut. Turned out the producer had the wrong font size loaded, and watching it fall apart live made me realize I've been over-relying on my own digital cue cards for client videos. Has anyone else switched to a simpler backup method after a glitch like this, or do you just wing it live?

Man, that sounds brutal. Watching that live freeze has to be a special kind of nightmare. I totally get the panic though, my phone died during a recorded intro once and I had to just talk to the camera with zero notes, pure rambling. Now I keep a single index card with three bullet points taped to my desk, even for simple stuff. It's way easier to recover when everything else falls apart.

Ugh, the live freeze is the worst kind of slow-motion car wreck... but the index card trick is genius. Does it actually help when your brain just goes completely blank, or is it more like a security blanket you grab out of habit?
