Watched a news blooper where the anchor's teleprompter glitched and she just started making up words for 8 seconds

I saw this clip from a local station in Omaha last week. The anchor was mid-sentence about a city council meeting when the teleprompter froze on 'the council voted to...' and just repeated that line three times. She kept a straight face and started saying 'the council voted to... enhance the municipal squirrel relocation program' before the producer cut to commercial. I rewound it four times and laughed harder each time. The recovery was so smooth I almost believed squirrels had a city-funded moving service. Has anyone else seen a news anchor recover from a glitch by just going full improv?

That anchor earned a raise for keeping it together like that.

That "keeping it together" line really hits home. I had a buddy who worked at a local news station and told me about a time the weatherman's microphone picked up him singing along to a song during a commercial break. The anchor had to keep reporting while visibly trying not to crack a smile. My friend said the whole control room was in tears laughing, but that anchor never broke character. He said it was the most professional thing he ever saw on live TV. So yeah, @colescott, that anchor definitely earned a raise for that one.

I read they actually kept that blooper reel and played it at her retirement party years later.
