Just crossed 100 unique board games played this year
I hit 100 unique games played this year last weekend and honestly didn't think I'd get there. My buddy keeps a spreadsheet of every game night we do so I saw the number climb. It blew my mind because I only started keeping track in March. Most of those were at a local cafe here in Austin that does free play on Thursdays. What's your count for the year so far and do you actually track it or just guess?

Ha yeah tracking is addictive, I'd say just set a hard cap of 3 new games per month so you don't burn out.

Totally agree on the spreadsheet thing, we started one for our group too and now I'm weirdly competitive about trying to bump those numbers up each month. Setting a cap makes sense though, I feel like tracking can make you rush through stuff just to add to the list instead of actually enjoying the games.

Honestly I used to think tracking games was super nerdy and pointless lmao. Like who cares if you've played 50 or 100 games, right? But my buddy started a shared Google sheet for our group back in April and now I'm obsessed with seeing the number climb. We're at 87 unique titles so far this year and it totally changed how I look at trying new stuff instead of just defaulting to the same 5 games every time. There's something really satisfying about watching that spreadsheet update after a game night, even if it seems silly. Now I'm kind of bummed we didn't start tracking earlier because I bet we were close to 100 last year too.
