My friend insisted we play a 4-hour game about farming turnips

I thought it was a joke, but we spent last Saturday with a box called 'Roots of the Harvest' that had actual tiny wooden turnips. The rulebook was 30 pages long, and we had to track soil quality and market prices. It ended up being weirdly fun, but who makes a turnip economy simulator? Has anyone else played a game that sounded silly but turned out good?

But did you really need thirty pages to grow turnips?

I read a review for a farming game where the writer spent three real hours just organizing their virtual shed. They said it was weirdly calming to line up all the tools by color. The whole game is about that slow, simple work. For some people, those thirty pages of turnip growth ARE the fun part. It's about the quiet details, not just getting to the end.

Got hooked on a game about being a goat. No joke, it was called Goat Simulator and the whole point was to cause as much chaos as possible in a small town. I thought it would be stupid for five minutes, but the physics were so broken it was hilarious. Ended up spending an hour using my goat tongue to drag people into traffic. Sometimes the dumb idea is the whole point.
