My game night crew in Austin totally ghosted me for a new video game
We had a Gloomhaven campaign planned for Friday, but everyone bailed to play that new Helldivers 2 thing instead. I sat there with the map tiles and character sheets all set up for an hour before I gave up. Has your group ever ditched board games for something shiny and new?

Man, that's brutal. My old group did something similar when that new Zelda game dropped. We were three sessions into a D&D campaign and suddenly it was all "sorry, gotta go explore Hyrule." I ended up eating two large pizzas by myself that night, just staring at my dungeon master screen. The worst part was they all came back a month later like nothing happened.

My Baldur's Gate 3 group vanished for six weeks.

Six weeks is rough. My group went AWOL for two months once and I just sat there updating NPC backstories nobody would ever see. At least when they came back I had new material to guilt trip them with.

Honestly that pizza story hits way too close to home. My own DM screen collected dust for a solid month after the last big game release. The real kicker was pretending to be chill when they finally texted "so, game night this week?" like they didn't just ghost a whole campaign. Felt like getting dumped and then asked for a casual hangout.
