Our game night in Denver almost ended early when my friend spilled a drink on my copy of Gloomhaven

We were three hours into a campaign session at my place when a full glass of soda tipped over right onto the map tiles. I grabbed a bunch of paper towels right away and carefully blotted everything dry, then we used a hair dryer on a cool setting to finish the job. It took about 20 minutes, but we saved the game and got right back to fighting the Gloom. Has anyone else had a close call like that with a drink at the table?

Three years ago at my place, a buddy set his beer right next to the Gloomhaven board and his elbow knocked it over. We grabbed towels fast too, but the cardboard was already starting to curl up at the edges. I ended up putting heavy books on the damp spots overnight and they flattened out pretty good. The cards got a little sticky but a quick wipe with a damp cloth and they were fine. Now I make everyone use coasters and keep drinks on a separate side table away from the game. It's a total pain but so worth it when you're three hours into a session and nobody's crying over a ruined game.

My cat knocked a whole beer into Catan once.

It was probably a Settlers of Catan board.

Actually, that looks more like a Ticket to Ride board to me. The colors and layout match that game much closer. Catan has a more broken up, hexagon style.
