Sorting game pieces by color finally clicked for me.
I always thought it was a waste of time, but it actually speeds things up. Now I enjoy the setup almost as much as playing.

Funny how the most boring tasks become satisfying once you find a system. It happens with sorting laundry, organizing a toolbox, even prepping coffee the night before. That tiny bit of order makes the whole next step feel smoother, like you've already got a head start. Turns a grind into a little win.

Know exactly what you mean. I used to just dump all the pieces out and hunt for colors mid-game, which was a total mess. There's something weirdly satisfying about having everything lined up in neat little piles before you even start. Makes the whole game feel more organized and less frantic. Honestly, half the fun is in the ritual now.

That part about the ritual being half the fun really hits home. I used to do the same dump and hunt method and it drove me nuts. What worked for me was getting a bunch of cheap plastic bowls from the kitchen store. I sort everything by color before we even open the rule book. It cuts down on arguments over pieces and lets us jump right into playing. The setup feels like part of the game now, not a chore.

Totally! I read this article about how sorting pieces first can actually make board games more fun for everyone. It said that little bit of prep work helps people feel more invested and ready to play. Makes total sense now.
