That $60 expansion I bought ended up ruining my favorite game night
Picked up the Cities & Knights expansion for Settlers of Catan last week because I thought it would add some spice. We played it Friday night and it took us 4 hours to finish a single game with all the new rules and mechanics. Everyone was frustrated and two people left early. Has anyone else bought an expansion that actually made a game less fun instead of better?

Hung around long enough to see my buddy Ryan buy the "5-6 player expansion" for Ticket to Ride once. Took us three hours just to pick routes cause everyone kept arguing over trains. @jason_stone59 I feel your pain, some expansions just make a good thing way too complicated.

Four hours for one game sounds like a nightmare.

Man, four hours for one game? That's not a game night, that's a part time job. You could have driven from here to Chicago and back in that time, and probably had fewer arguments about train routes. I'd have bailed after hour two and just told them to text me when the winner was decided.
