That friend who told me to glue my deck box shut during a game night
My buddy Mark swore I'd stop losing card sleeves if I superglued the lid on my deck box-now I have to pry it open with a butter knife every time we play. Anyone else have a 'brilliant' fix that just made things worse?

Butter knife seems dramatic. Just pull harder or use pliers. Superglue peels off with acetone if it's really bothering you. Deck boxes aren't that serious - I keep mine in a shoebox loose and shuffle just fine. Unless you're running some tournament-level blinged out deck, it's cardboard and plastic.

Last time I ignored my buddy's advice about "just pulling harder" I snapped the hinge off my old plastic deck box and sent cards flying across the living room. 35 cards took me an hour to find, and one was under the couch with a big old shoe print on it. Then I tried the acetone thing and accidentally melted a corner of the box because I let it sit too long. So now I just keep my sleeves in a ziploc bag and call it a day. It's not pretty but at least I don't need a toolbox to get to my cards anymore.

Whoa, wait. A shoe print? Like somebody literally stepped on your Magic card? That's rough, man. I've had cards get dinged up before but a full-on sneaker print on a rare is a whole different level of pain. I'm trying to picture that moment you lifted the couch and saw it. And then on top of that you melted your own box trying to fix it? That's like a double whammy of bad luck right there. I get why you switched to the ziploc bag method now, honestly.
