Appreciation post: That cleaner PTFE tape trick for sealing gas lines
After 12 years in the trade, a senior guy at the Port Arthur plant showed me to wrap the PTFE tape backwards (counter-clockwise on male threads) and it stopped 90% of my leak-backs on gas fittings. Has anyone else found a small habit change that saved them big headaches on the job?

Counterclockwise wrap is the only way I've done it since 2019.

And it's funny cause you see that same kind of stubbornness with things like zippers or jar lids. People get set in their ways and swear by one direction. I got a buddy who still tightens his hose connections clockwise even though the manual says the opposite. At the end of the day it's whatever works for you, but there's something satisfying about finding one method and sticking with it across the board.

@blair_chen81 my buddy tried that backwards wrap last month and stopped a leak on his second try.
