I finally figured out why my boiler tubes kept failing
Working on a job down in Baton Rouge last month, kept having tubes crack after only 2 years. Turned out the water treatment guy was cutting corners on the chemical feed. Has anyone else dealt with sketchy water treatment contractors messing up your work?

Know what you mean man. Had a similar situation up in Tennessee where the water treatment contractor was supposed to be testing the pH levels weekly but was just guessing half the time. Turns out they were using a cheaper chemical blend that didn't have enough corrosion inhibitor in it, and our tubes started pitting bad after just 18 months. Really frustrating when these guys cut corners and we end up looking bad to the customer. That's why I started requiring monthly water test reports sent directly to me instead of just taking their word for it. Also made sure the contract had a clause that let us fire them if we caught them slacking on the chemical feed again.

Man, nothing worse than that. @noahgreen hit it dead on, requiring the reports is the only way to keep them honest. Trust but verify, right?
