I finally swapped my leather gloves for mechanix, best choice in a decade
Honestly, I ran the same beat-up leather pair for like 9 years on boiler jobs, thought thick meant safe. Switched to a set of mechanix wear after burning through a third pair of stitching on a tube bundle in Gary last month. The grip on wet pipe is way better and I can actually feel the torch valve without taking them off. Burns on my knuckles are gone, but is anyone else finding they wear out faster than leather, or am I just buying the wrong ones?

Used to swear by my old leather pair, figured anything thinner was a gimmick for guys who didn't work hard enough. Then I got a set for a side job since my hands were freezing and the leather was basically cardboard. Honestly changed my whole mindset after one week, the dexterity is unreal and I stopped busting knuckles on every bolt. Yeah they might not last as long in pure abrasion, but I'd rather replace them twice a year and keep all my fingerprints. They do wear quicker if you're dragging them across concrete, but that's a fair trade for not fighting with stiff leather all day.
